AOM Gallery Floorplan (PDF)


Art on Main welcomes applications from artists who are interested in becoming part of a dynamic artist-run organization. Our clientelle are looking for unique art and fine craft in a wide range of media.

We offer equitable space and a permanent downtown location in which to display and sell your work. Acceptance for guest artist status is based on a careful review of your submitted works by a jury committee consisting of three member and two non-member professional artists.

Guest Artist Contract (November 2011)

Guest Artist Requirements

  • 45% commission paid to Art on Main on all work sold
  • 3 month committment to display work
  • Up to 3 pieces of 2D art, up to 5 pieces of 3D work, and up to 7 pieces of smaller work such as jewelry
  • Agreement to abide by a code of conduct in all matters relating to the organization
  • Must submit examples of recent work that are available for display and sale

Membership Application (Feb. 2011)

Membership Requirements

  • $35 in monthly rent
  • One-time membership fee of $100, due upon acceptance
  • 35% commission to Art on Main on all work sold
  • 12-month commitment, and an average of 1.5 days per month working in the store
  • Participation in committees, and attendance at monthly membership meetings
  • Agreement to abide by a code of conduct in all matters relating to the organization
  • Must submit a completed application package including examples of recent work

Akimbo

Akimbo is a Toronto-based company that promotes contemporary visual art, video, new media and film locally, nationally and internationally via the internet. Established in November, 1999, Akimbo has built a large and dedicated subscriber and reader base of Canadian and international visual arts professionals along with a client base of hundreds of the country's most important galleries, museums, art institutions and media, film and video festivals.


CARFAC logo

CARFAC Ontario is the association of professional visual and media artists. Founded in 1968, CARFAC (Canadian Artists' Representation/le Front des artistes canadiens) has worked for 40 years on the legal and economic issues facing visual artists. We believe that artists, like professionals in other fields, should be paid for their work and share equitably in profits from their art practice. The work of CARFAC Ontario is to develop policies, publications and services that assist artists, galleries, curators, art patrons, and other stakeholders in creating an economic climate that benefits all visual artists.


Funding


Ontario Arts Council

The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is guided by the far-seeing mandate it was given in 1963 - to foster the creation and production of art for the benefit of all Ontarians. OAC offers more than fifty funding programs for Ontario-based artists and arts organizations, with funds from the Ontario government. Grants provide assistance for a specific activity, support for a period of time, or for ongoing operations. OAC also offers awards, prizes and scholarships from private funds managed by the Ontario Arts Foundation.


Ontario Trillium Foundation

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), one of Canada’s leading grantmaking foundations, is an agency of the Ministry of Culture. OTF distributes $100 million of government funding each year generated through Ontario’s charity casino initiative.


Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is proud to be a vital component of the Northern Prosperity Plan. The aim of the NOHFC is to work with northern entrepreneurs and businesses to foster private sector job creation while supporting critical infrastructure and community development projects that build a foundation for future economic growth and enhanced quality of life.

Galleries

Joan Ferneyhough Gallery

Joan Ferneyhough Gallery is located in a 1930’s period house and is one of a number of art galleries in the heart of North Bay. It provides a small and unique space in which to view fine contemporary Canadian art. Established in 1996, the gallery represents a group of accomplished artists, who are redefining art in northeastern Ontario. Their work is diverse in subject and style and includes paintings, drawings and sculpture.


W.K.P Kennedy Gallery

WKP Kennedy Public Art Gallery presents the finest in historical and contemporary Northern, Canadian and International visual artists. In our two gallery spaces, through our public arts activities, through our programming with the Capitol Theatre and in our touring exhibition projects, we showcase art of all forms and media.

The WKP Kennedy Public Art Gallery is a gathering place for art and art ideas. We offer to the people of North Bay and Northeastern Ontario, a forum for artistic dialogue and development.

Line Gallery

"Line Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting and documenting contemporary Canadian drawing. The gallery exhibits emerging and established artists practicing in drawing, with shows primarily focusing on a single artist's work. In addition, the gallery supports artist talks, interviews and maintains online records of the exhibitions with the goal of documenting Canadian drawing. "


Aboriginal Art of Canada

Committed To The Promotion And Preservation Of Aboriginal Art And Culture, the online gallery showcases a unique one of a kind collection of fine art, sculptures, crafts, Art Cards and Limited Prints.

The Artists come from various backgrounds within First Nation, Metis, and Inuit communities and they are all very much dedicated to preservation of their native cultural & spiritual beliefs.

Located in the heart of PICTON, Ontario, this gallery run by artists will dazzle you with quality art, diverse media and our friendly welcome.

Paintings, mixed media, graphic art, sculpture,ceramic, porcelain, glass works, quilts, weaving, painted silks, folk art, photography and pastels are all on display for your enjoyment and purchase.

The Downtown Improvement Area

The North Bay Downtown Improvement Area was created by By-Law No. 144 in 1977. The Mission Statement “To preserve and develop the heart of North Bay.“ was adopted by the DIA in 1995 and remains their primary objective. The Downtown Improvement Area works to achieve this goal.

The DIA concentrates on tourism, business retention and expansion, and promotions. Festivals and special events are held at various times throughout the year in an effort to increase traffic levels, enhance the profile of the downtown and strengthen investor confidence in the downtown core.
